Our request to Higher Education Council (HEC) to open “Labor Economics and Industrial Relations” program in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in our university has been approved by Higher Executive Board in accordance with 2547 Law No. 2880 amended by Law 7 / d-2 in the meeting dated 13.01.2016.
Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences began education in 1997–1998 academic year with 70 students in Business Management which was the only department. The faculty offered Education in 4 departments as Business Management, Economics, Public Finance, Political Science and Public Administration with 31 teaching staff to around 2,250 students in 2011. As of today, there are 52 teaching staff and 9 departments 5 of which is active and 4 of which is not active yet (International Relations, International Trade and Logistics, Health Management, Labor Economics and Industrial Relations). While master education was offered only in the departments of Business Management and Economics in 2011, as of today 5 master’s degree programs and 2 PhD degree programs are offered for nearly 350 students.
Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations
Departments of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations which can be dated back to 1930s as a continuation of Social Politics tradition is an interdisciplinary department according to its subject of study. It has a wide vision including different social disciplines as law, economics, sociology and psychology, evaluating humanity, its needs, society and society order as a whole and leading working life and social relationships.
The primary aim of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Hitit University is to train ‘Labor Economists’ who are competent in the regulations of working life, have the necessary equipment, technical knowledge, scientific methods for providing working peace, are aware of working life dynamics.
